Several things come into play when considering weed control options. One of the easiest things to do is to raise mowing height to 3-4 inches. The soil is shaded and therefore stays cooler. The taller grass also provides more cover, which reduces the chances of undesirable plant growth. If weeds are already a problem, we recommend spraying with Speedzone®. Speedzone® is a broad spectrum herbicide that controls most broadleaves. If crabgrass is the issue, apply a crabgrass preventer when soil temps reach 55 degrees, approximately early May. If you have other undesirable species, such as Brome and/or Quackgrass, then please accept our condolences. You don’t have a lot of options other than spraying out with glyphosate and starting over.
